Hi Everyone,

Wanted to intro myself as well as kinda ask my first question.

I have a Dusky Conure who is about 11 years old. Just recently this week lost my cockatiel who also was about 10yrs old. They had separate cages but were in the same room as well as when out of their cages did share some time together (although not really play together...more tolerate being near eachother).

Had a question on a behavior I am unable to pin if it is good or bad. He/she does seem to be somewhat bitey lately (even before I lost the cockatiel) as sometimes just did not want to step up. But after the cockatiel passed, I had him on my shoulder and nipped at my face. He absolutely loves me and wants to be with me, so I am wondering if it was more out of "hey give me attention" as I was on the computer or not looking at him. Did not break the skin but still hurt as it was on the face.

So the behavior in question is this dance/head bob where he puffs up and takes his head and does a full circle where he will twist it down towards the ground (top of head will point towards the ground) and than bring it back up. Pupils don't pin but I just don't know if its aggression or not. It mostly before would always be with other people while he is in the cage. Now he sometimes does it to me but never will bite at me while in the cage. Where sometimes if someone goes over to the cage he shows some aggression while in the cage.

Is this more of a mating behavior? As the other day he was super excited and still regurgitates for me (I do not acknowledge or encourage this) and at night grinds his beak, gives kissing noises etc.

So overall he seems to be a happy bird but at times shows some temperament.

I have been reading the forum for a bit but finally decided to join.

Thank you in advance

Sean
