5 year old green cheek conure
I've had my 4 year old green cheek conure Polly since she(I don't know for sure she is a she) was 3 months old. We are very bonded and I am still learning about birds even after 4 years.I am homeschooled so there is usually always someone home with her, except if I or my parents go out to the store or something. One question- is 3 months old when conures are weaned? Thanks!

Ok, just wondering. She is a bit noisy sometimes, but we have no neighbors anywhere close to us, so it isn't a big problem. I also try to move her cage around the house so she gets different views. I am pretty busy so I can't handle her as much as I would like, but I am always around her, so we talk, and on weekends, I hold her a lot.

Mine can either be really really really noisy or just give out quiet noices. If they start the day being noisy then thats it for the day.

I personally would not be moving her cage around the house as the cage is considered a secure place to be and that includes the immediate surroundings. Just make sure she gets out of the cage to play, interact with the household and stretch her wings. Find one safe and secure place for the cage and leave it there as moving the "home" can cause undue stress on a parrot. :)

Welcome to the forum. :).If you have the space, you can use portable play perches for your Conure and move it around when you need to. My play perches I have for my feathered kids are all on wheels so I can move them to other places I might be while interacting with them. My hubby & I made our own, but there are commercial perches available with wheels also or you could use the table size & move it. :red1:

Welcome to our forum
If you have the finances purchase a portable playstand, easy to move from room to room and your bird will be out of the cage more often.

Ok, I'll buy a play stand. We have dogs, so how do I keep her safe from them when I have her on the stand?

When your bird it out on the playstand PLEASE keep the dogs far away. Perhaps in another room or outside.
There have been many sad tragic incidences where dogs and cats have killed birds.
If anything had to happen to your bird you would never forgive yourself.

Modoglover welcome to the forum. There are lots of very devoted and smart bird lovers here with lots of great advice. You will enjoy it here. A portable roll around play stand it the best idea and yes by all means keep the dogs and other animals away from the bird while out of the cage. Put the dogs in another room with the door closed or a puppy gate up and give the bird more time out of their cage. Good luck!

Welcome to the forum, Modoglover! My sun is on my shoulder so much of the time. He loves to watch me wash dishes, work on my bicycle, just about any activity, especially meals. and he is here now while I'm on the forum. I advocate hands on as much as possible. That's just my opinion though. :)
