Hey,
I am new to this forum & new to owning big parrots as well. I got my first one yesterday. She is a 17 years Blue & Gold Macaw. I adopted her from someone who could no longer take care of her. I have had her about 24 hours, & she is warming up decent. She is a bit grouchy, but she is great as well! She has her own room indoors at my house where she can roam free in the day & go into her cage at night. I was told she doesn't like people, but she has already perched on my arm, I see she does try to warn me a bit with fast "Fake Bites", its a bit scary, but I don't back down, I have been giving her fresh Fruits & Vegetables today by hand & she is doing well with that.....(mostly). I think she will be just fine!
