Blue Front Amazon
I just found this place. I've had a Blue Front Amazon for about three years, he found me at a parrot rescue place in Carpinteria. I was there looking for a different type of parrot, Boo decided what I really needed was a Blue Front Amazon - specifically him. He's my first large parrot, and it's been educational.

I guess he's an exceptional parrot, based on what I've read and heard. I'm told that having a parrot means having scars from the occasional bite. Boo has never bit me. The worst he did was climb down the front of my shirt one day and clamped onto my thumb, because I was talking to an evil blond woman. He hates blond women - his last owner was a blond woman, which tells me enough about how his previous owner treated him. Other than that, he's got a wonderful temperament and personality, he's quiet (rings his bell when he wants attention or food), loves to spend time with me. He gets a little grumpy if his schedule isn't followed - he likes to go to bed at 8PM, and if I wait till 8:30, he stands on top of his cage and scolds me before he'll come over and get on my hand to go upstairs.

I had another parrot owner here one day, and she saw something she said she's never seen before in her parrots. When I scratch Boo's head and neck, I cup one hand under his head, and he lays his head down for support while I scratch him. He just turns to expose the area he wants worked on. She asked if I'm worried about him biting me if I hit a sensitive feather - no, I'm not. When that's happened, he just growls to let me know it hurt, and shifts his head. My vet was shocked that I keep my earring in when he's on my shoulder. He knows I don't want him to chew on it, and he doesn't. Like I said, I guess he's an exceptional bird. We don't know how old he is, just that he's something the other side of 15, because he was wild caught and imported, and they banned that 15 years ago.

That's us. I'm sure I'll post more as time goes on, Boo has all kinds of interesting quirks.
