Fussy the Green Cheek Conure.
Hello everyone,
I am so glad to have found this forum. I have been a bird owner for many years and it's great to connect with others.
I have an 8 year old hand reared Green Cheek Conure named "Fussy" who doesn't think he is a bird! He is the love of my life.
I work and study from home, so he is with me all day long. I take him out for drives in the car too, which he loves. He's very much loved.
His favourite foods are apple, corn, and strawberries.
I look forward to chatting with other bird owners on here :)

Thank you very much for the warm welcome everyone.

Since I'm running late, welcome to the forums & hope you enjoy your stay.....

My primary reason for jumping in here is to suggest that you might want to get him a manicure perch.....the nails on both of his second toes appear to be too long & too long nails can get him into trouble, getting caught, torn off or worse.....

For safety, a bid's toe pads should rest flat on a counter and given the length they are currently, you'd probably run into the quick & blood trying to clip them & since you may not have considered this type of perch before, ones with a rough, sanding type surface on the sides and smooth surfaces on top and bottoms would be your best choice...sanding type surfaces are not desirable for birds to perch on because they can eventually damage the bird's toe/foot pads.....

Good luck.....

Thank you so much for your reply. I really appreciate it. Every 8 weeks he goes to the vet and they clip his nails and they have told me that the most they can take off is the tips?

They're telling you that because they don't want to cut into the quick/blood vein, but I think if you invest in a self-manicuring perch you can save the 8 week payment to your vet and help to eventually get his nails/talons down to where they should be.....
