noddy - ring neck
hello everyone i'm new here and looking for some help. My brother and his ex girlfriend hand reared a ringneck parrot together about 4 years ago. they broke up and looking after noddy (the bird) has fallen onto me. He has been in a big cage that can't be near where we frequent because of it's size. now he has a perch on the kitchen bench for when we cook, a cage on the verandah and now i want to set up a cage in my room for him because i'm not working at the moment and i think he would like being in here. he also has mites so he is getting sprayed weekly and the paper is getting changed every second day and each week his cage is getting hosed down. i'm also looking for some tips on how to wean him onto pellets so i can alternate between seeds and pellets and anything else i can do for him. every day he gets a different piece of fruit or veg to chew on. originally we thought he was a girl but about 2 years ago he started to get a black ring around his neck. thanks guys

A warm welcome to you and Noddy. It was very kind of you to provide a home for your brother's IRN.

Everyone has their own opinions about diet but I think most of us agree a variety of fresh vegetables and fruits should be a big part of any parrot's daily diet.

If you have a chance to browse our diet section, I think you'll find lots of tips, recipes and new ideas.
