Hello! I'm AlexTheGreenCheekConure.
I'm a college student (AnSci major with a pre-vet emphasis) who works as an assistant at a vet clinic, and I love birds. I love all animals, really, but I specifically find birds facinating.
I currently have a flock of 6 smaller birds. I have Alex the GCC. He's about 2 and a half now. I got him from PetSmart as "damaged". Little guy is missing a toe, so no one would buy him. He completly charmed me at the store, and after going home and researching GCCs, getting all the supplies, he came home with me. <3
AJ is my grumpy old man of a cockatiel. I adopted him from the Human Society where I volunteer (I met him during one of my shifts, and about a week later went back to adopt the guy). I adopted him about a year ago, so he's 16 years old now. He was given up for adoption because his owner was older and going into a nursing home. He had recently lost his partner, too, so he was super grumpy and lonely. Poor guy. He's warmed up to me alot, but still not very fond of people.
Athena is my sweet female cockatiel. She is guessed to be about 3. I got her from a parrot rescue to be a companion for AJ. They had a couple arguments when I first introduced them, but they get along really well now. I just caught AJ preening Athena the other day, and I just melted. She's the most recent addition to my flock, so I'm still learning her personality.
I have 3 parakeets, Angel, Sunny, and "Bird" (Bird is actually my mom's, and she couldn't think of a name... so we're open to name suggestions for a blue female parakeet). Angel and "Bird" are sisters. They are the babies of two parakeets we had when I was a kid, so they've been with us their whole lives. It was pretty cool watching them hatch, and grow feathers, and all that cool stuff. Sunny came from the petstore. She gets along great with our other two, and is a sweetheart.
So that's my current flock. I adore all of my babies, and love hearing them talk to each other.
On the non-feathered, more furry side of things, I also have a catahoula leopard dog. I've had her for 8 years now, and she's 9 going on 10. She was a rescue pup, and it the best dog ever. XD
Anyways, those are all of my babies. They've kinda taken over my life, but that's okay, cause I love 'em.
