Welcome! Some of the popular places to buy cages - Amazon, cages4less, kings cages, birdscomfort. Supplies - it depends what you are looking for....amazon works for some things, chewy.com, mysafebirdstore are some of the ones that I use. Of course, it would also depend where you are located in the world

I feel like that would be an absolute minimum width and length. Most birds prefer more width and length, than height. Caiques are a little bigger than my sun conures and mine make good use of 32x32x60 cages (although they don’t use the height - they play horizontally). It’s hard to hang much for toys and perches in 24x24 (you’d be amazed how fast the space gets used). Size somewhat depends on how much time they’ll be spending in the cage too. If you are gone to work all day - I’d recommend larger than the minimum. If they are just in cage to sleep, then the minimum is probably fine. Lots of fun options for cages

Welcome to the forums! Congratulations, your new family member is adorable.
A good rule for cage size is the largest cage possible to fit your space and budget. Caiques have sturdy beaks so you’ll want a sturdy cage. Lots of sizes and designs to choose from. While you’re waiting for your little guy to come home you’ll have time to research and shop for the cage, set-up, perches, toys, and most important, diet. Here’s some links you may find useful.

If I many respectfully suggest..... Note the two rows of products in second image at lower right appear to be Happy Huts or equivalent. They are extraordinarily deadly to parrots who chew and swallow the fine threads. Please avoid them, they have caused many losses over the years. Japie (m) & Appie (f), both are congo african grey;
All are rescues- had to leave their previous homes for 'reasons', are still in contact with them :)
Do not *ever* go with minumum sizes- if possible get that bird an inhouse aviary!
(I know overdoing it maybe, though it would be great, there are *very* active busy birds.)
Just buy as large a cage as you can place and afford.
Cages are usually more than just sleeping spaces; they are also kitchen, bathroom, livingroom and excersize-yard to the birds so buy him/her a roomy house, not just a smallish tent.
(LOL, you do realise most people buy a cage, parrotproof the living room, collect toys, get their nutrition in and have a vet-appointment waiting *before* they purchase the bird, right !?)

Absolutely. We thought this was just a visit to the parrot store. We bonded with this little guy & couldn’t pass him up or risk missing out on him. We’ll be picking him up in a week, maybe two. Depending on how fast we get everything ready. Than you for all the input guys, you are all very helpful!

We don't have kids so one of our bedrooms is going to be the bird's room, so plenty of space. I wasn't sure if they felt vulnerable in a lot of open space. I'll be sure to get a nice cage. Thanks again everyone. I'm sure i'll be asking a lot of questions when he comes home!

Having their own room for quiet night times is great, but keep in mind he'll be happier being near where you all are during the day.

Squeekmouse beat me to it, but no bird belongs in 'a seperate room by itself' (except for sleeping). They do not only go insane, they will do it LOUDLY and CONSTANTLY.
Nothing drives a bird to screaming faster than being able to hear their flock but not being able to see or join them.
Always place you bird on the most interactive hotspot in your house.
To a bird safety is in numbers (of flockmates)- being away is risking death (in the wild) -those instincts run deep!

Welcome and be welcomed. all the above advice is right on target. Get the biggest cage you possibly can - other wise you wind up with 2 cages. The first one and the one that you get once you realize how much room is needed to keep him happy. Caiques are a barrel of laughs and very mischeivious. He will keep you guys on your toes for sure.
Alot of reading for you 2 before the little guy comes home. Food, toys, Avian Vet to choose. Training - caiques love to learn tricks and show off. Good luck!
