Malaysian parrots.
I bet you have never seen these parrots before.
These are my 1st parrots before Cocoa came into our lives. These birds are natives of Malaysia. They are protected. Export is prohibited. I don't own them anymore now. 1 died and the rest were given to a friend. He took good care of them but the Hanging Parrot died. We suspect he was killed by the female Blue Rumped.  A Male Blue Rumped Parrot.   A female Blue Rumped Parrot.  A male Blue Crowned Hanging Parrot.

What lovely birds! I'm so jealous of people who get to live with and near just diverse wildlife. All we have in Texas is armadillos, coyotes and javalina. We don't even have many horny toads any more.

Very beautiful! I am familiar with hanging parrots as I was in charge of husbandry at a zoo. We had two pair there as well as fig parrots. They are very difficult to keep in captivity unless very experienced. Ours are still doing fine, it's been 7 yrs.

Thank you for sharing such lovely pictures with us!
Those are some gorgeous birds. I'm not very familiar with blue-rumped parrots; I've read about them but I've never seen good pictures of them. Very interesting!

I think about that all the time, what it would be like to live in an area where the parrots are native and abundant. We get the typical, "let-out-of-their-cage" or "lost" birds. Lovebirds are big in my area, they have even stole old nests in Saguaro Cacti!!
I love the hanging parrot!! So petite and such bright colors!
