Now that I am becoming a new parront to a medium bird, I would love to some ideas on what works for you all as a feeding schedule?

When are vegetables/fruits fed, pellets, seed mixes, treats, etc fed?

Also, are there any allowances that I need to make for a senior bird in terms of diet?

Thanks all in advance

Presently have six Greenwing Macaw (17 yo), Red Fronted Macaw (12 yo), Red Lored Amazon (17 y.o.), Lilac Crowned Amazon (about 43 y.o.) and a Congo African Grey (11 y.o.)
Panama Amazon (1 Y.O.)
I feed mine in the morning, before I leave for work.

I change bowls, and get rid of bad water and food, and clean messes, first thing when I come home from work.

That way it doesn't get out of hand, and they are on the same scheudle I am on.

Unless the bird has some sort of medical condition, then no...

A friend of mine has her grandmother's amazon. Grandma got the bird when she was 12!!!! THAT BIRD IS NOW 94-ish YEARS OLD. Still fed a mixture of fresh foods, nuts, seed, and pellets. Other than a little arthritis, he's still going strong...

I SHOULD BE SO LUCKY!!!

I am lucky enough to be home all day, so keep that in mind when reading how I feed.

For my morning feed, everyone gets fresh water, their pellets and seeds, and after all the birds are done I feed their fist batch of veggies. In the late afternoon, I change whichever water dishes are soiled and they get their second veggie/fruit feed of the day.
Once a week they get their bean mixture, or birdie brad, or something else I cooked up before.
In the evening we check waters again and pull the last feed.

Everyone has their own system, and you will quickly find what works for you:)

So the pellets and seeds are also removed during the night, not just the spoilable food?

This helps give me an idea of where to start. Thank you!

New bird owner here so should they always have some food available or do you let them eat and then take it out?

Some people take it out. I leave mine in. They have pellets all day and all night. Yeti only gets enough for a days feeding because she still likes to throw her food and I'm not ready to let her throw a few days food in one day.

The fresh food needs to be taken out.

I give Zilla her "fresh" food breakfast (consists of a chop mix and some fresh veggies & fruits) while I have my coffee in the mornings, then after she has eaten a good amount I give her the portion of seed mix with her nuts and she has that all day until about an hour or so before her dinner time, I pull the seed mix so she will be hungry for dinner, I give her an hour or so to eat her fresh foods dinner (another chop mix plus some of what I am having for dinner as long as it's bird safe) and then after she has eaten a good portion I put her seed mix back in and leave it for the night.

Keep in mind I work from home and it's very rare for me to have to be gone during the times she gets fed. On those rare occasions things get changed up a bit to fit whatever schedule I will be on that day.

Pumpkin gets his cooked food and veggie chop for breakfast. But has fresh pellets available to him all day long including at night and during breakfast.
