Re: Breakfast, 2nd B'fast, Elevenses, & more

Let’s see...this morning’s bowl consisted of peppers, carrots, bok choy, radish, cucumber, purple kale and quinoa...of course, that was the first bowl that I took lovely photos of and then proceeded to drop on the floor as I was trying to put it in Tori’s cage, LOL! Ever have “one of THOSE” mornings?

Yes, had one of those days last week. What's left looks yummy.

Here's a recent one. It's raspberry, carrot, green pea, and a cooked mix of quinoa, millet, lentils and oatmeal. Got the idea from this thread by Terry57

Wow, great and healthy mix. I'll soon be posting a new photo since I am going to make a new batch tomorrow. I freeze my chop so it keeps the same ingredients for a while.

A big head nod to using the freezer to keep chop useful. Hate to see even the tiniest bit get thrown out. I have an entire freezer shelf dedicated to the bird. All these weird little Ziploc bags that look like confetti til you read the labels.

I’ve been trying to freeze individual ingredients chopped up in little baggies in the freezer. That way I can pull out enough for a couple of days and change up the ingredients frequently. Also, it lets me buy whatever looks delicious (or is on SALE!) at the grocery store and not have to worry about it going bad before I make more chop.

Agree with you about catching ingredients on sale. Reminds me of a member who's got a subscription to a community delivery service. He gets boxes of produce and makes chop with them. Alas, we have nothing like that around here.

Re: Breakfast, 2nd B'fast, Elevenses, & more

Here it is!

This chop includes: Swede, sweet potato, garden peas, mange tout, broccoli, sugar snaps, carrot and kale yet it took me 2 and a half hours to wash, make completely fine with the food processor, put into bags equally, freeze and clean everything. I have 5 bags with 320g, last time I had 3 bags with 196g.
I flattened the vegetables out in the bags so that it is easier to smash the frozen chop to make little pieces that I defrost over time.

Re: Breakfast, 2nd B'fast, Elevenses, & more

We’ve been trying some new foods lately...today’s gourmet recipe included:

Rainbow quinoa
Purple kale
Red and orange peppers
Basil
Cucumber
Zucchini
Golden beet
Carrot
Radish
Sugar snap peas
And as a special treat...the tiniest bit of hard boiled egg!
