Perfectly safe. My parents have given them to their birds forever (even the bottom part
) and they just rip them up as foot toys. Only takes the zons maybe 5 minutes, the cockatoo 2. I bet that Zoe would make one last *maybe* a whole minute

I've also used corks,being a bartender, I take them home for everyone to enjoy,quite often.
