We are bringing home a male yellow split to blue parrotlet. It's been a few years since I've had my Own birds, going through a bad divorce forced me to place my birds into homes. (Sun conure, parrotlet and parakeets).
So, Im wondering how to handle a brand new parrotlet baby on his first few days home? My sun conure came to me weaned (even though he reverted back to needing hand feedings) and my parrotlet was 2weeks old and handfed him myself. My sun conure was well handled before he got to me and the night I got him home he was on his back in my hands lapping up all the attention he could get lol!
I'm hoping for a friendly male, she told me he is still friendly and enjoys sitting on her while she talks to him. So we will see.

Suggestions?
Also, its also been a few years since I've done homemade bird toys, any good/cheap sites for parts/toys?

Will be adding a parrot when the right one finds me.
No advice but just wanted to say congrats on the new baby! I've been considering bringing home a parrotlet for a while now.

I have a male, yellow split to blue. He's a sweetie. A nippy sweetie, but, a sweetie! About 2 years old now. He doesn't play too much with toys, though he has many of all kinds. What he likes is shredding things. I give him paper cups, raffle tickets, and treats wrapped in paper. He also likes a piece of rope that he chews on. He does love his swing, and his happy hut. Basically a mellow bird. Likes to fly around, settle down, and watch me & the birds.

Thanks :)
Has anyone had theirs try to say anything? All these youtube videos are sooo cute of the p'lets talking. I'm going to try and work with mine to get him to, no big deal if he doesnt but cute none the less. I seen a video of someone that taught theirs to say/play peekaboo, very cute! I hope ours with time will be just as playful. My little blue baby I raised from 2weeks LOVED to play and would chase after anything that rolled by.

I'm hoping he enjoys being handled, if not he will only be 7weeks so shouldn't be to hard to get him to come around. She has already clipped his wings because she said him and his sister kept trying to fly into a glass door and didn't want them to get hurt, so that should help as well.

Mine is 6 months old and a lil monster right now. She is molting. She is usually so sweet. But on the flip, when she is mad, she will let you know it. She is fearless, which is how they are in the wild. She will stomp around like a lil dinosaur, with her hackles up, and she doesn't think twice about picking a fight with my Senegal who is 3 times larger then her. She will cuss out a 200 lb. 6 foot tall man (my husband) in her bird language, without hesitation. But we love her :D

Ps. I was told that around 4-6 months she would go through a real nasty stage, well they were right. But I was also told it will pass. Still waiting.... Hahaha! One min. she is like... But I love you, now I hate you... but I love you, and now I hate you. Grrrr.
