To what age do they keep learning?

I ask because Oscar, who's almost 2 now, is adding words to his repertoire faster than we can remember them. Since this morning he suddenly calls me "boss!" (my wife calls me that in front of him/the dogs). It keeps amazing me that they don't do "trial runs" (or so it seems), but get it right from the first time.

I know that even though there's this "old dog new tricks" saying, dogs actually still learn at a later age (9 and 11 in our case), and pretty fast too. Is it the same with pois?

Not sure how long they keep adding words, but they can learn new behaviors at any age. My Mel is 8 and keeps saying new things, but since I have only had her a year I'm not sure if she is learning new words or starting to say things she knew before. This morning she said "do you want your breakfast?" For the first time.
