I agree, your OWA needs plenty of time to adjust to his new home....also, when the time comes after he's done with quarantine, be careful with them getting close to each other- some birds of different sizes do fine with each other, but most of the time it's best to keep them separate to prevent any accidents or injuries.

Thanks wozzy, see I thought I'd done the research ;-) didn't ever read about the quarantine part until after you said it..the lady I bought them from didn't mention it either. They have already been somewhat "exposed" to each other. Pray for the best.:)

Yep, quarantine for at least 30 days is best practice for bringing in a new bird regardless if they were around other birds or not. Most of the time, moving into a new home can be stressful for birds (depending on the individual) and if they were sick prior to the move, the stress will enhance their symptoms (birds are notoriously good at hiding illnesses).

It's always a good idea to get a new bird checked out by your avian vet, and continue QT for the 30 days even if they say they are fine.

At this point, since they've already been somewhat exposed to each other, keep a close eye on them and get your OWA checked out as soon as you can- my concern would be that s/he came from a home with A LOT of other birds.

Good luck! [emoji4]

By 'checked out' I'd definitely include blood tests for the more common viruses (PBFD, Polyoma, PDD, and bacterial Psittacosis). This is also a basic practice, as birds (unlike common pet animals such as dogs) can be carriers of deadly viruses. Even though unlikely, the bird community DOES hear about it more often than we'd like to. I'd do that in addition to quarantine, as quarantine alone isn't foolproof.
