As you might know, Scomo is a randy little bachelor looking for a blue lover.
I was wondering, should I get him a handreared girl, or an aviary bred (untamed) girl?
As I DO want him to breed, does anyone have any ideas which would better for this loving lad.
I'm don't don't care if the girl loves me or not, I just want Scomo to be happy with a blue girl by his side
Thanks

I am 71, married and fairly private. I have PM privileges but prefer the phone. Printed messages, are so limited. jh
When you were younger, did you care, as long as the other person; was willing? jh

I'm asking this in regards who would be more suitable for breeding mate, a handreared or aviary bred girl, to see which one would give the best results and would be suitable for a handreared boy

B&G Macaw, Galah, 5 cockatiels, 50 billion and a half budgies. We breed and do rescue. Too many to list each individual's name and age etc, but they are each individuals and loved dearly.
Noah is like 15.

I'd go with aviary bred if you are looking for a bird's bird. Less chance she will be clueless about the process, and she also won't feel deprived of a human relationship that way. But then, each of them are individuals and you may end up with an aviary bred gal who does want a relationship with humans.

Fang ({ab}normal grey cockatiel), Valentino (budgie), Jem (cinnamon cockatiel), Lovejoy(varied lorikeet), Peach (princess parrot)
I can see pros and cons with both. Provided you can accommodate any potential missus in separate accommodation should the anticipated love match be unsuccessful, that’s the main thing.

Our boy is growing up!

Yes, Scomo is growing up so fast LaManuka
I will go with Big n Flocks idea, which makes a lot of sense, because a handreared female may not be fully knowing about breeding successfully, whereas a normal aviary bred female would know how to breed properly
I will make sure a slow introduction after quarantine practices, by putting her in a cage in his Aviary, and if that does not go to plan, I will find it a new home, and try finding another female for Scomo
Thanks

I probably need more pics of my darling Scomo to see him all grown!!!

I think a hand tame will be best. You need to breed for temperament as well. A d I think it would make the breeding program easier if she wasn't a hater.

My Neptune is hand raised and my GCC is hand raised and hadn't been around any male birds since she was weaned. And even though I don't like it , they breed....

I will put up a pic of Scomo with his new girl as soon as they settle down together
I am going to meet up with Les Banks, who is known worldwide as the Quaker man, for his work with saving the Quaker in Australian aviculture
If he doesn't know, nobody would
Merry Christmas
