As parrot owners, we all have those times where we think, what were you thinking when you did that?

Whenever I feed my fish, Sarah my U2 comes running on the floor and then lookes up at the fish tank sideways, and says, "Heee-looooo?" about five times, and gets mad that the fish does not talk back. (sometimes I just say hello out of the side of my mouth and she gets all happy and says hello with even more motivation.)
LOL what was she thinking?

She also has a little square wood shew toy. Yesterday she stuck her head inside the square and then got "stuck". She had plenty of space to take her head back out, but for some reason she thinks something, and starts chewing on it while her head is stuck in it.Why would she do that? I went to go and get a camera, but when I came back she was out of the square.

I never get her on camera! :)

Well do you guys have any moments when you really want to know what your parrot was thinking?

If you do, I would love to share a laugh on the story or pic! :p

Sarah sounds so sweet. =)
Well, I have this toy hook and every time I give 'em a shower, they hang upside down on it. Maybe to dry off? But they hang upside down, and swing. That sort of doesn't make sense, but they rock back and forth on it, like an oppossum or something. I'll try to get a picture, but they're camera-shy.

We had been spending a lot of weekends away from home while my sister in law was ill and I wanted to get Puffin some new toys to help occupy him when we were gone. He has never liked foraging toys, he obviously doesn't appreciate having to work for his food! I bought this wheel that has compartments and he would have to work out how to get to each compartment.

I asked my husband to fill it and then put it in his cage just before we left.He said " Your kidding aren't you, he will never get this!"

We returned home two days later and asked the kids if he had behaved and they said yes and I went to see him and noticed the wheel was empty and ran to tell hubby how clever he was, we were both very impressed.

Later that day I went to get his food bowls to feed him and saw something on the bottom of his cage. I bent down to pick it up and saw that it was the entire cover of the wheel! He had not worked out the compartments, that was too much hard work, he had simply removed the screw that held the cover in place and had himself a feast! I said to him " Puffin that was naughty" and he looked me right in the eye and laughed! I know for sure he knew what he was doing!

every morning, when i take his cover off, crowley has to make a HUGE point that he's eating/hungry. so he runs down to his food dish, basically shoves his whole face into his pellets and thrashes his head around to make lots of noise and, of course, a gigantic mess. it makes me laugh everyday... :)

Thanks fro posting all of your hilarious stories!

@ caliopi: Sarah doesn't do foraging toys either, she just bangs them around until stuff falls out. If she likes the noise it makes she jut grabs it and rubs it agianst the walls of the cages. If it frustrates her she will take it in her beak and throw it out of her cage during her hyper hours.

@ ann: Sarah loves talking to her food bowls too! Maybe it sounds different in there.

@taylor: hilarious! Dramatic birds all over the world...

See... if it were me, it'd make sense why my bird would say hi to my fish.... I say hi to them every time I walk into my office and "bye fishies...!!!" when I leave. ^^;;

I have a 3ft tank of cichlids, soon to be moved into a 6ft. The fish get so hyper when they see me, but scatter and hide when students visit (Students stand there looking at the tank and will often ask, "Aren't there any fish in here?") lol. I think it'd be cool if my bird interacts with my fish :D

Shame you couldn't get the picture on camera! It would've been so adorable!!

One day I decided to try putting Puck in a paper grocery bag (don't worry, I did it very safely), since he liked paper so much. He kind of nibbled on it a bit, and half-assedly tried to get out, but mostly he SANG FROM INSIDE THE BAG! He poked holes through the bag a teeny bit, and could have easily gotten out if he wanted to. If I made it super easy, he'd climb out and go "WOOOOOOO!" If I held the top of the bag closed though, he'd just whistle his special songs that he made up.

Hmmm...

Actually, I do talk to my fish when I feed them, but never in a million years did I think Sarah would pick up on that! I underestimated her genius again...
