So I have a Sun Conure who will be coming to live with us. We did the home check and the current mom is very nice. She will be visiting 1-2 times a week to let the bird get use to us so she is comfortable with the change. Will the bird ever take to me while mom is still the owner? Her current mom wants to make sure she is comfortable because she really loves this little girl will the bird become more comfortable as the visits go? She seems so sweet. Any input.

I've not had any experience with this sort of thing with birds so I couldn't help there. I know when we had dogs in the vet hospital for long periods some were better with visits from owners while others were better when the owner stayed away - the dog was thinking the owner would take them home then fretted when they left. When my Galah was in hospital the vet said not to visit. I'm thinking you'll need to judge the situation and see what's best for the bird.... sorry not much help

Hi MaiTai If i read your post right your saying that you will have the bird in your house and the current owner will be visting 1 or 2 times a week if thats the case i would say that would'nt be a good idea Give the bird a chance to settle in with you and get used to your routines i think seeing the current owner may upset him and stress him out thinking that he is going back with the first owner You both need time together one on one with no distractions to get bonded I'm not saying don't let the first owner not come over just give the bird a chance to get settle in before before they do come over maybe like a month or two You can always call them or send them photos on the computer in the meantime So good luck and congrats on the new addition :blue:

Oh in that case yeah I think it's a great idea to get the bird used to the home & you.

With all of the birds you've been adopting, you may want to consider investing in some noise canceling headphones. Or investing in a company like Harrisons or Zupreem.

Nope their noise is music to my ears, I love to hear them singing makes me think they are happy and want me around. They are like children to me, all the labor is paid back with love and kisses. They are great company too when everyone is at work or school I bring them to the couch and I have company watching my shows.
