I have 2 linnies and i want to tame them. At the most videos (if not at all of them) on how to tame your bird they are out of the cage in a stand. I have 2 questions, 1. How ca i get the bird to the stand from the time that it is realy scared of my hand (how can i make the bird to not be scared of me??) and 2. I am afraid that if i get it out of the cage it will fly away (How can i make the bird not to fly away without clipping its wings??).

Thank you :):)

What have you tried so far? Have you tried offering treats through the cage bars? Clicker training is a good way to work with a bird and you can start it without taking the bird out of the cage to begin with.

Think of it as earning the bird's trust as much as taming - you're not trying to force it to accept you, but to show it that you are nothing to fear and a fun source of activity.

Remember that most (if not all) training videos all feature already trained birds. The birds demonstrate the correct behavior, but they learned it and knew how to do it before being filmed to show others the technique.

Jayyj gives a good suggestion to start with some trust building while they are in their cage. Sit near them, talk soft to them, give them food and treats through the bars. You can start with the target stick while they are in their cage, and gradually use it to get them on your hand and out of the cage. Before you can try the tricks in the videos on the special training stand, you have to have a foundation of trust and be able to pick them up.

Check out this video. The bird she is taming in the video is untamed. It might just do the trick!
