As were are tightening belts this year was wondering what is the lowest comfortable temperature in the home for p'lets and GCC? In the past we always kept it very warm but that is no longer possible. Thank You Bonita :rainbow1: :green2:

If you set your thermostat at 50° fahrenheit & that helps your power bill, you can rest assured your feathered friends will be comfortable.....they have at least three layers of feathers that they can lift individually to give themselves another two layers of warmed air between those feathers, add a couple of more blankets to your bed & sleep comfortably.....

Weco, Just wanted to say how much I appreciate your responses to my sometimes simple questions. It means so much that I can count on a prompt answer to all questions. It means so much to know answers about my babies are nearly as fast as I can type them. Thank You All Bonita :)

Thanks so much for this thread. I don't usually keep my house as low as 50 but today I'm having trouble getting my heat adjusted in the house. Upstairs and basement are so warm its disgusting. The main level is obviously cold because the heat is running. I'm going to try adjusting the dampers again tonight but it might take a couple of days to get it right. Meanwhile...the kitties and birdie will just have to adjust. :)

Love this topic! I was told by provious owner of newly acquired macaw to keep the house at 70. I have never kept the house above 65 in the winter. I have an oil filled electric heater ( very safe) that I plan to use to suppliment nemo's area. Thanks all for info. I can turn temp down :)
