Picking a pellet food?

I'm not sure if this is the right forum for this, but I didn't see a diet area that could be for multiple birds.

I have recently acquired a CAG and LCA. I've had my eclectus for a while and I am used to her nutritional needs, but now I suddenly have 3 different parrots from completely different environments and I worry about all their needs.

I was wondering if there was a pellet that would be good for all 3 of them? I try to offer fresh fruits, veggies, and sprouts to them all. The LAC is/was on Higgins Fruit to Nuts until I got him, but I worry that that is too much fat and dried fruit. The CAG was likely on walmart's parrot food, which you know has nothing put sunflower and a few other ingredients.

I'm trying to read through all the websites on the different species, but I'd love some personal input from owners.

I don't have much species specific knowledge for any of those birds, but I think any good pellet would be good for all of them. Especially if you are supplementing well with fresh fruits and veggies.

The main difference between conure food and macaw food is the size of the pellet.

I use Zupreem and am a fan of theirs. Harrisons also has a great food that would be good for all three. I've also heard great things about RoudyBush though I have never used that.

My personal favorite pellet is the pretty bird Natural Gold, but here in Canada I can't seem to get it so I feed Tropican. Not thrilled with Tropican, though.

I've put in an email to a few places to see if they would send samples.

That is what I was thinking, a good pellet and supplementing with fresh ingredients specific to each bird's needs.

I just reread some research I did when I first got my eclectus and was reminded why we never went with pellet food. There is a big debate over it because eclectus are so different than other parrots. It looks like I'll be researching this more. I might be able to put the amazon and grey on the same diet, but probably not my eclectus.

Eckies are a pain aren't they?? I've been through the same thing with Shadow. Harrisons make an Ecky-specific pellet. As a brand Harrisons is very hard to get hold of it in Australia but I'd be interested in looking at that one. I don't feed her any atm.

I just had a look and it's not there. I can't remember the name of it but it mentioned being ideal for Eclectus... bummer.

I found the Pepper pellet had eclectus mentioned, but that is the only one on the whole site.

I've heard of the Harrison's being good for Eclectus. I know Eclectus eat Roudybush really well, but I haven't checked their ingredient list lately and can't remember if it was a prime choice or not. Nutty flavored though.

I guess reading the ingredients and percentiles would be the best way of seeing if it would be appropriate.

I've decided to get a pellet that the 3 can have and supplement individually with needed homemade foods. The eclectus will likely get 80% homemade foods(sprouts, veggies, fruits) and 20% nuts/seeds/pellets, while the amazon and grey will get a higher percent of pellet and lower of the homemade/nuts/seeds.

This is going to be fun, lol!

The grey can have more protein than the zon who can have more protein than the ekkie. Zons are very prone to fatty liver so you need to be careful on the amount of protein and fat you feed (but you already know how to control this from feeding your ekkie). Greys are prone to calcium deficiency so you need to be careful about that.

I don't fee pellets, I feed mash or goop or gloop, instead. It's healthy for everybody. But, if I had to go with a pellet, I would choose TOP and none other. It's the only one that doesn't have soy in it.
