Birdie bedtime?

I'm curious what time it's lights out or you cover your birds.

I don't know if it's good or bad but the routine right now is Buzz is not covered and he has indirect light until about 11:00 to 11:30. He has his evening snack about 10.

I don't cover them.

I don't even cage them.

Lights out at my place is between 9:30 pm and 10:00 pm

I get up at 5:30 am, get them up and fed by about 6:00 am.

Have to be out the door by 7:00 am.

I cover, bedtime comes, i cover the top and at last 3 sides of the cage (he has a light from the front to get around and chill). after awhile i'll cover him completely then sometime later leave the room (light out!). my laptop lives in the living room with him, so he can relax for the night, still see me and i can internet surf.

I don't cover. I lock her in the cage at night, for her safety, and the other animals. When i do she usually eats/drinks, then chews on her perch until I flip the lights off. She might call out a couple times (99% of the time very quietly/softly) and I'll respond with "Goodnight Willow!" and that's that. She's generally good about being quiet int he mornings assuming I remembered to close the blinds. She's usually up by 8 tho.

3 out of 4 of mine get covered. Lights are out at 8PM. And lights come back on at 8AM.

Usually between 9-10pm covered. I have to keep in mind that regardless of what time they go to bed, Griffin will wake up either peeping or talking 10-10 1/2 hours later. Mornings where I don't have to get up early, I swear I'm going to get him a blackout cover lol!

Griffin is not a loud parrot in either volume or frequency, but even his cute little voice isn't necessarily appreciated earlier than I'd like. He almost always starts by a soft cute little voice saying "Raven.... Raven?" I think he keeps waiting for Raven to answer, but Raven is still in bed trying to catch some more zzz's lol. It's so adorable that it makes me smile every time. When Raven doesn't answer that's when he starts with the annoying chirping.

Mochi likes to cuddle for a while and usually falls asleep while doing so.
Usually he's in bed between 8-9, depending on what time we started cuddles.
Currently I'm covering him with three blankets just because it's getting colder.

Ralph is an "early to bed" parrot.

He's ready to go to bed at around 7:30 every evening, sometimes a few minutes earlier. Once he goes to bed, he's quiet until I come in the next morning, roughly 12 hours later.

Happy is ready for bed around 7:30, I cover his cage.
Weekdays I get him up at 6:15, weekends at 8:30. He's a good boy, doesn't make a peep till I open his bedroom door.

Gonzo puts himself to bed around 9pm, and will say "Night night Gonzo" and "Cover up?" until you cover him. He gets so excited for bedtime he regurgitates sometimes. Sydney will go in his cage if Gonzo does but he sleeps on and off throughout the day, I don't really have a bedtime for him.

I'm a nightowl, and have blackout curtains so bedtimes are a bit later.

Lights out for the pets room is 10:00 on week days, lights on at 8:30. Weekends lights come on an hr later and go off an hr later. Currently playing around with times, to have everyone up a little earlier and bed early. I have my pets room on automated lighting, that I put in a few months ago.

Now weather mango feels going to bed at those times is a different story!😏

Everyone has their own preference. Or should I say, the bird has their preference.
I studied mine to see what they like best.

My BFA, prefers night lights, same with Senegal..They go bonkers in Pitch dark, even worse if covered.
So both of them I leave uncovered and freedom to sit where they want for bed time.
Which for my Senny it's under it ladder atop it's cage.
My BFA, prefers it's ring above the cage, My Grey, likes his hut and sleeps in that.
My Ekkie likes it's perch in conner of it's cage inside, My Budgie cuddles up next to a stuffed toy amazon at nite and chews the crap out of it in the day time....Only my Budgie and Ekkie are caged at nite.

He wakes up between 6-6:30 am every day all chirpy and cuddly

We have bedtime around 8.30pm with cuddles and wind down time an hour before that. Lights get turned off around 8 pm so they start to get sleepy. Both get covered with a cotton sheet in summer and thicker blankets in winter. Bundii sleeps in her hut and Millie on her boing.

Wake up time is usually around 7am but depends on my shift start times. They nap on and off during day anyways.

Kyleigh's cage is too big to cover, but I probably wouldn't either way. She starts dozing 8-9, which is usually time for her last feeding. I'll feed her, then put her to need.

Conure West would rather sleep than deal with humanity most times. He's sleep by 8 at the max.

Bed time for birdies

Just wondering if it is normal for them to go to bed early now with it getting dark sooner? Cosmo wants to go in his cage to go to bed about 4:30/5:00 when it starts to get dark. He'll start flapping his wings and squawk till I pick him up and take him to his cage. He is up when I get home from work at 6:30 in the morning.

We are from the north as well. It is almost dark at 4 now! I keep Paco on a consistent sleep schedule all year long and mimic the day with artificial lighting and in the summer use room darkening shades. Always in bed at 9pm up at 7. Not sure if this is right or not but hormones have not been an issue so it is working for us. When I get home from work at 4 and it is dark, I want to go to bed too sometimes!

Nothing has changed around our house. We are out of the house from 8am until 7ish pm. To get proper socialization Parker needs to stay up late, lest he goes to bed when we get home. So it's consistently 11pm bedtime, then up at 7am for breakfast, back in cage for the day at 8, back out of cage 11 hours later for the evening.

Rinse and repeat.

We ended up putting more lighting up . They seemed so much more lethargic with it darker , The lighting really does the trick

I'll have to put up more lights then. I usually take a nap before I go to work, but having Cosmo go to bed at 5 felt too early. Thanks.
