Petsmart store smells so bad... Did my Bird died because of PetSmarts Odor?

Today, a week ago my precious Dino pass away.
Last week Thursday, I woke up and Dino flew up into my bed, right in front of my face and woke me up. We cuddle with each other (like every morning) and I fall asleep kissing him and him kissing me back. Little that I know that it would be the last time that we would be doing this.
Later that day his little spirit flew away - to heaven forever. (See my post my bird died today).
I miss him so bad.

I miss everything about him. His voice, his talks, his sent, his personality, his naughty little tong, his happiness, his nipping , his bites, his foolishness, his feathers, everything! He was so perfect! He also poops on command. And could do lots of tricks. He was just an amazing little fellow. I never had a problem with him. He was never sick. We were soulmates.



The day he died, 10 vets turn us down. The last thing i though about, before going home is to go to PetSmart and get vitamins for him. He was still okay. Sitting on my finger, when we enter PetSmart. We found the vitamins. I checked out, everyone wanted to touch him and look at him.

I held him in my chest very protective and wouldn't let anyone touch my bird.

In the car I put 1x drop of vitamins into his juice. I didn't want him to get dehydrated. At that point, Dino couldn't even lift his head, after exiting PetSmart. Within minutes, his system was so weak.

He couldn't drink nor eat. I freak out and call the vet. They turn us down.

I drove him as fast as I could home - just to watch him die in his bed 10mins later.



Today i went back to PetSmart to return the vitamins I bought. Lots of emotions and sadness came up.
I also notice this strong, smelly odor in the store. Once i exit the store I notice that my lungs hurts and that i got a real bad headache, after exiting PetSmart.

I'm wondering if someone has the same experience while entering a Pet store?



This could have weaken Dino's system even more. He had already a weak system. Plus the car drive. Plus the stress of the f...king vet turning us down. Plus the bad smell in Pet Smart?



Any Thoughts anyone?

What kind of smell are we talking about? Were you near the fish department?

I used to work there several years ago, so I can tell you about most of the things used in the store, though obviously locations are different in how closely they follow procedure, but I'm familiar with all the cleaning products and things such as chemicals used in the fish tanks.

I would say it's unlikely that it had any affect, unless the birds there were sick, but they do get quarantined prior to being put out on the floor.

At this point, hold that information. If you feel compelled to do more - than stop back to the store and simply ask what they are using to clean the store, and reference the odor. Stay-out of their face and emotionally neutral. Your collecting information ONLY!

Now, once you get the results back from the Lab. Compare what you learned from the Lab report to the information from your visit to Pet Smart. If they are actionable, well that's going to require professionals. If there is no connections, time to move forward.

There are two very clear realities when considering the death of a Parrot. Parrots are very good at hiding an illness, extremely good! And, there are things that can kill parrots with in a matter of minutes.

If you want to gather information regarding that specific Store and that specific chemical odor, please do so. But understand that it may be specific to that Store and that week only. I.E. They may already not be using it.

It's in Pasadena California.

I miss my Dino so much.
I loss him today a week ago.
Just looking at all the videos and the good times we had, makes me cry.

He was a very special soul.
