Do Sun conures get louder as they age?

This isn't a question of concern as it is really of curiosity [emoji14] Sammy's screams don't bother me even in the slightest. He has to be right next to my ear for it to even slightly irk me. In fact, if say his screams aren't particularly "loud". Yes, I can hear him from outside, but a small walk down the street shuts it completely out.

This is quite the contrary from what I've heard... before I got him people said it was unbearable, and that you could hear it from BLOCKS away. But Sammy, to me, doesn't live up to this, and he definitely does not lack his screaming fits. So will he get louder? Will he eventually live up to what I've heard, or if I'm fine with it now will I always be? Thanks!

LOL, it may just seem that way. All parrots get loud at some point in the day, but if its constant, you shuld be looking for why. SOmething irritating him? Learned behaviour? Look at it from the parrots side, becasue it is never the fault of the parrot

Oh no, he's been the same volume since I've gotten him, just more frequent. It doesn't bother me at all, really, I was just wondering out of curiosity if they get louder as they get older haha

RIP Gandalf and Big Bird, you are missed.
My mom had a pair of Suns years ago. The issue wasn't volume but rather the pitch of the scream. It was incredibly shrill, just the wrong note to scramble the brain!

As beautiful as they are I could not stand the shrill ... calling they make.

Ok true story.

Went to the store (I think it was Smart and Final). While walking around with the wife I heard a parrot call. Course I knew it was a parrot right away and I went hunting.

I found this guy in the produce section with a sun Conure climbing all over his shirt. He told me the bird flew down to him when he was out side working on the yard. Said he did not really want it but it just did not want to leave him. He could not leave without the bird going crazy.
Beautiful bird or not I did not want it either. It would not be long before all my birds were imitating the sun Conure.
Whole time I was in the store I could track this guy buy the sound of his little friend calling.

Thanks but no thanks.

Oh yeah... They can DEFINITELY be heard LOL. It doesn't seem to bother me at all, though. I either have bad hearing or just less sensitive ears [emoji14]

DYH Amazon
I really do not know about how loud a Sun gets. But as far as getting louder as they age: Mrs. Boats states that I have gotten much louder as I have gotten older! :D

We are Amazon Snobs and I admit that I Love a loud Amazon having fun entertaining the World with the delights of being an Amazon! Plus in the Summer Months, we like to have the windows open late evening thou early mid-morning.

That said, our Amazon Loves a Good Morning wake-up that commonly starts a bit after 8:00 am. When we moved into our new home, I took our DYH Amazon out to meet all the neighbors with in a distance of being able to hear our big-boy waking the late sleepers! To my surprise, not only was his morning calls welcomed, but from June into late September the morning walkers gather to hear him and they love taking to him!

Now take one Amazon + an audience = one Very Happy Amazon!

The take-away: Introduce your Parrot to your neighbors early on! There are great advantages in doing so.

When we meet with neighbors from our old neighborhood, guess who comes up very early in the discussions! :D

Sun Conure
It actually depends on the individual sunnies.
My older sun conure screams whenever anyone comes near the door or when I leave the room.
My baby sunny is actually really quiet and rarely ever screams, usually only when I leave the room for too long. But she's female and female sunnies are sometimes, not always, more quiet than the males. In fact, I feel like her screams are getting quieter now.
It really depends on the individuals really.

Ollie has his days but is for the most part a pretty quiet bird for a sun. Lucky me! He does do calls for me if I leave the room of if anyone opens a door and for his treat times/bedtime. He usually has a very clear reason when he screams and other than that's he's a happy quiet little guy!

My lil Booger aint got louder... Volume isn't an issue as Ive become immune to Amazon evening screams of joy. And yes indeed...the pitch kinda like chalk on a chalk board... such a gorgeous bird but what a voice!!!!!!!! Gosh I love em....

I am with you in the fact that my sun's calls didn't bother me at all before she passed on. I am really good at blocking out noises. Of course my galah can bother me cause she is normally so quiet and it seems like she only chooses to scream when my TV show is reaching its peak! (Her cage is in the living room with the TV). My mom thinks she's super loud, though, and calls what *I* call tweeting "screaming". I'm all no... she can scream but that is NOT a scream. Some people are bothered more by birds in general, but I am with you on not finding suns to be crazy loud. It's just...shrill.

Yeah, honestly I'm more worried about other people getting annoyed by him lol. People are already getting a negative connotation of him because apparently they can't bear his screams. I wish everyone could block out noises LOL. But I don't blame them, it is definitely pretty shrill...
