We currently own 1 Eclectus female, 2 lovebirds and 2 parakeets. Our home is set up so they can all be free in a screened patio enclosure during the day, with access to their cages. In the patio we have plenty of safe plants, trees and toys for them. We usually let the lovies and keets out together all day, our ekkie tends to stay in her cage when outside, though from time to time she will interact with them. We usually keep our Ekkie inside to be more around us. Someone is always home. All birds are inside in the evening in their sleeping cages and inside during few times it's cold in Florida.

We are looking to add 1 final member to our bird family. Researching now. Any recommendations? I would like a medium size bird, no larger than an African Grey. Looking for a very social bird as our kids handle all our birds all day long when they are not in school. They ride on their bikes, scooters, play in their rooms, ect... In other words, very well loved. Not sure what species would be the best fit with the Ekkie.

Thanks for any advice.

Have you considered a pionus? They aren't as popular as many other birds, but they can be really awesome companions!

How about an alexandrine? My alex loves kids, even though he doesn't see them often... Alexandrines are not cuddly birds, but they do love to socialise... Max also get on well with my eclectus... They are always out playing at the same time, and choose the same playstand... I would never leave them out unsupervised, though...
