Creative, hilarious entry! I'm a huge Trekkie but never progressed beyond TOS. So I'd have to cheat and Google every answer!!

Huge Trekkie isolated to TOS? That's a lot of energy from one source. Your energy levels could be multiplied if you seek out where you have never gone before.

I have read about two other references on the phenomenon. William Shatner reflected in one of his autobiographies he had not seen any of the following series in the franchise. Connor Trinneer, starred as Charles “Trip” Tucker III on Enterprise, reflected he had not seen anything but The Original Series. He did not know much about the franchise and was not intimidated during auditioning. His counterparts reflected on his drawn out audition process as brutal. Filling the position as engineer, he expected to work a few days a week and learn how to surf. I suspect his roll came in a close second to Jolene Blalock as T'Pol in screen time, third overall.

The Voyager actor Garrett Wang described his audition process as equally challenging. Eight weeks with six auditions. Was reduced to him and one other actor, with the other guy being sent home. He remained on hold before he got the part. They were going to cut him when they brought in Seven of Nine, however People Magazine tapped him as one of the most beautiful people in the world. Jennifer Lien as Kes was cut.

You are correct, I never really bonded with spin-off series and enjoyed just a few of the early big-screen movies. My affinity for TOS is likely nostalgia, growing up watching weekly debuts, and the powerful metaphoric plots espoused by Roddenberry. My Sci Fi leanings are more A. C. Clarke and the spellbinding 2001 A Space Odyssey.
