We have 7 vertebrae in our necks. Our birds have 17. That gives them a much wider range of motion. That's also why people usually think a dead bird has broken it's neck.

I love it when they do that! The first time you see it it's a little creepy looking....like at any moment green pea soup might come shooting out of their beaks and a call to the exorcist is in order! :). Beaker is so cute, I'm glad he doesn't smell like sardines anymore!

Now there is one relaxed, content bird. Little chance of a bite when he's got his tongue sticking out. Nothing quite like a good scratch! :)

Now I must say, when I read the title of the thread I wasn't having pleasant thoughts at first, as I expected Beaker to do the "Exorcist" move. :eek:
