Bougainvillea

Just picked this up from another group I'm on.....if it's somewhere on the forum, sorry for the dupe.....

For those who let their birds perch on bougainvillea, its thorns give contact dermatitis so it's not good for birds that might want to perch on it.

I banned it from my yard a while ago because those thorns are brutal. I is a gorgeous plant ,but hubby who is the lawn mower person can't go out in the yard without getting cut and or scratched and since he is on blood thinners we go through bandaids by the case. He could manage to start bleeding everytime he came within 2 feet of those shrubs.:eek::D

That plant destroyed our trellace and nearly our upstairs deck when we were renting in a duplex.

Yes, it is a beautiful flowering plant. We have many of them all over where I live. And, I have noticed that the wild birds, including Quakers, do not go near it. Not for cover, food(seeds), or any other reason.
