So the flock have all had this "tail jitter" ever since they got Parrot Fever (which they no longer have). They aren't showing any other signs of respiratory distress, and they are all a bit overweight, so maybe that's why? I'm trying to get them to loose the weight. They have my room (10 by 11 by 8 feet) all day, and they occasionally get to roam the living room (30 by 25 by 25 feet), and practice more long-distance recall there, plus recall from higher heights.

Anyone know what it could be?

It’s ip and down. They also tail bob if they’re tired but show no signs of breathing difficulties when flying or moving around a lot. Just when they’re tired.

Hmm, I read that it may just be normal, especially if the bobbing is only when they relax. Still doesn't explain the jittering, though. I'm glad to have some answers at least, I've been worried sick.

I recall wondering about a similar thing with my budgies many years ago but I never really answered the question.

I think the tail is so long that any little body motion is magnified. So it looks like a really big movement but maybe it’s not.

Hmm, maybe. I'm still worried about it, though :(

I have no idea about their tails but I am so with you on worrying about things I haven't seen before! And of course since I've seen hardly anything with Cotton before I'm worried about everything and especially when something changes. So, hugs for that bit!

Oh my gosh, the parrot anxiety is real. I swear I call Kirby’s vet every other week.

I hope it’s nothing serious and just something normal. You are such an attentive bird careperson!
