Cockatiel eye

Hi I'm new here but need help. I realised my cockatiels eye has been looking a little weird, would anyone know what this is

After some cuddles I was able to get him to stay calm and still and I gently used my finger to glide it over his eye. After a couple of times I did that, I realised I had some sort of eye booger thing on my thumb and that his eye looked normal now. Very strange... I've never seen that happen to him, his eye didn't look red or irritated and he didn't seem to be bothered by it at all. I guess I'll just have to monitor his eye for a while to see if it comes back
