Ear infection in my Macaw

My 27 year old blue and gold is healthy happy and eating well but he has a crusty ear on one side of his head like there i a discharg and it has built up also when i scratch around his ear i can hear liquid in there .. Has anyone heard of this and is there an antibiotic anyone can suggest for clearing up ear infections quickly??? Please advise ..i just spoke to my new vet who does not deal with birds at all .My old vet retired and I am in the process of looking for a new avian vet.

Hi there, and welcome to the forums. :)

So sorry to hear of your B&G's ear. This is certainly something an avian vet should check out much sooner rather than later. If you could give us your general location, we might be able to help you locate an avian vet.

It's never recommended to give OTC meds, especially when unsure exactly what type of infection you are dealing with.

Can't really do this over the internet.

This is one that requires an ACV.
