I very much doubt Rio is ingesting the bark. I would say he is only chewing & dropping the pieces he has chewed off. If he is ingesting it i would take the toy away as there is a possibility of crop impaction or a blockage in the intestines.

Biting is alright ~~ maybe keep a close eye on him .. if he starts to ingest it, just like pedro said take it away ~~

Eating a small amount of bark is a normal thing even in the wild. I have nerver read or heard that this should be a problem.
