So my parrot Zeus has been doing this for a while, he'll chew on his cage bars in a rather noisy fashion. I only really got concerned when I realized he was chipping paint off. I looked it up and it said that I just wasn't letting him out enough. The thing is as long as I'm home with him I keep his cage open (he doesn't much care for flying he just likes to walk on the outside of his cage.) I'm pretty sure I'm giving him all the proper nutrients so what am I missing?

Help is appreciated.

Hopefully your cage is powder coated with safe paint? I always worry about lead/zinc paint poisoning.
have you tried hanging a couple of very favorite toys in the actual place he tends to pluck the bars? This may help him to become interested in them instead of the bars. It may be a boredom behavior or he simply likes the sound. He is a grey! :)
