I try to be careful not to touch the wrong areas and stick to the head, beak, neck. My Pionus has started laying on my chest or stomach to get his scratches this way, I'm just wondering if it's a bad idea since his whole front body is laying on me. Don't want to you know, stimulate him the wrong way lol. I haven't noticed any negative change of behavior yet but I will teach him to stop if this is a bad idea.

Yellow Shoulder Amazon, Salty
I think that is OK, as long as you are not stroking or stimulating him on the body. Head and neck is fine, Salty likes in particular a nice neck massage in the morning - helps him relax the neck muscles after a night of tucking his head under a wing.

I agree. He's like a baby.
