Hi Everybody,

We're looking to buy some ringnecks and these have come up on our search. We're told the yellow is a female around 15 months old and the green/grey head is a male 10 months old. We don't know too much about how these birds should look at these ages and are probably being a bit paranoid.

Could anybody confirm that these are ringnecks?

We're unsure of the male because of the lack of the red beak, or at his age, is this normal?

Thanks.

The little green one is a Plumheaded parakeet (related to the IRN), and the yellow is an IRN. Plumhead is either juvenile or female.

Presently have six Greenwing Macaw (17 yo), Red Fronted Macaw (12 yo), Red Lored Amazon (17 y.o.), Lilac Crowned Amazon (about 43 y.o.) and a Congo African Grey (11 y.o.)
Panama Amazon (1 Y.O.)

That yellow one certainly is. The ring should be coming in pretty soon. The above shows what the little green ones look like before their rings molt in. As you can see, it looks a bit different.

That's been helpful thank you. We would have liked to have two Ringnecks so it seems the current owner probably doesn't know, or is choosing not to tell me. I thought it looked odd but it was difficult to just search through Google.

Cheers.
