Hello everyone, I am new to this site and new to owning a Conure.
I have had my baby since Saturday, so today is her 3rd day with us.

She was hand raised at the shop where we bought her, when we went to look for a bird I saw her sitting on one of the ladies shoulders. When we asked about her the lady let me hold her and she was very affectionate as soon as she sat on my shoulder. She has one wing clipped.

Now that she is home with me, she is very nibbly all the time. She nibbles my lips, ears and nose. Is this a bad thing? She has not bitten me hard, its always just a nibble. She also drags her beak up and down my skin?

How would I go about training her? I am so new to this but I can see us having a very loving and fulfilling relationship. I was in love with her her moment I saw her.

One thing I can't decide on is her name! :/

Hello! Welcome to the forums! What a lovely little GCC, Congratulations!

There's nothing wrong with a new experience! You're in a great place to learn. We have lots of conures and their humans on the forum.

Parrots approach everything beak first, it sounds like your little friend is just beaking to get to know you better. She's probably had at least a little pressure training, when and if she gets too rough with her nibbling, very gently remind her to be careful, you can distract her by simply asking her to step up and moving her away from the area she's interested in. A treat offered from your hand is a good distraction and a good way to teach her to use her beak carefully.

Here's a great link for bonding with a new bird.

Enjoy your adventure!

Thank you!
That is really helpful. :)

Is there anything I shouldn't feed her besides avocado and onion?
