So today I acquired a 15 week old blue and gold...

Everything seemed normal and good when I visited him however on closer inspection at home I just wanted to check his Plumage was normal for his age? I’m telling myself it much because he’s so young still ( my other parrot was an adult already when we got him) and haven’t had a baby bird in many years...

I’ll be seeing a specialised vet as soon as I can but came looking for some piece of mind from anyone with more knowledge.

He has quite a few what I am assuming are pin feathers within his Plumage not visible but are there if you look inside more... the second photo of his back I’m assume he’s just a little rough?

Thanks for reading!

Yes, those look like they could be pin feathers. When Gus's come in, they have thick whitish sheaths, and you can see the darker color through the sheath. Don't touch them too much...once they grow out a little, they really like you to squash the sheath to help crack it off, but when the feathers are tiny they are very sensitive and may create some squawking in protest if you rub them the wrong way. Looks beautiful!
