I'm glad to have found a community to belong to. I'm familiar with parrots and am on a search to find the right bird for me.

So far I've narrowed it down to wanting one of the following:

Panama Amazon
White Capped Pionus
African Grey

I hope to make my decision within the next few days. Any advice or info is always appreciated : )

Nice to meet all of you!

Melissa

African grey all the way! Check out the following video on youtube:

Tui the African Grey has a tantrum: When parrots attack! Parrot gives a verbal bashing

Amazing bird! I read somewhere that the intelligence of an african grey is comparable to that of a 2-5 year child.

I don't know much about any of those, but a local pet store I used to frequent had two greys they were adopting out. They weren't very friendly due to how they were acquired, but they were FUN to enjoy while in the store. Chatterboxes and great to visit with. Although, the mess those two made was UNREAL.

Thank you for the reccomendations : )

I actually got an email from a breeder that I was impressed with in regards to her last WC Pionus. Originally she had promised him/her to another person, but that person was unable to put down the deposit leaving him avaliable to me! I bit! So now I should have my little pionus in a couple of weeks. So excited!

Thank you - Thank you : )

I really like the idea of having a grey, but I had to be real about it too. While they have the great talking ability and intelligence, with that comes more dedication and interaction. Not that I don't want to give any bird my all, but I would hate to bite off more than I could chew and have the parrot suffer for it.

Maybe one day....
