Anyone know any info on the breeder or age ect
I would be curious if you find anything out. Patches' leg band is PSM FL 1075. The FL is sideways, indicating Florida, but that's as far as I could get. Very similar and I haven't found anything else about it yet. No breeder info related to PSM that I can find. We are in the US and he is reported to be about 18 years old, but who knows if that is remotely accurate given that much of his life was spent in rescues from Vegas to Maine.
Thanks, that's what I was thinking from the numbers, but 2010 is probably not likely. I have tried to find Florida breeder info for PSM, but nothing yet. I have some vet records from January, 2011 when he was at a "rescue" in Maine. He was reported at that time to be "almost 11 years old." He was there until late 2017 when he came to the refuge where he found me early this year. Before 2011 he was reported to have come from another rescue in Las Vegas but I have no records from then.I would be curious if you find anything out. Patches' leg band is PSM FL 1075. "PSM" is definitely the breeder's individual code, and I would say that he was born in 2010 actually, unless you know that this isn't possible based on when you got him...The last number, the "75" is probably his individual number from the breeder, like he was bird #75...
Thank you!!! Likely, I won't be able to find a specific breeder, but it sheds some light on the band numbers that I hadn't found. I spent quite a bit of time on line to come up with nothing. Once again, an awesome resource. Yay!Awe, I appreciate that...
Something I just found online by chance, that makes your bird's band make sense, yet untrackable really, is that the "PSM" is the code that used to be used on L and M Leg Bands (largest manufacturer of bird legbands for decades) for "PetSmart" stores back when they sold all breeds of parrots (prior to 2012 when the Psittacosis outbreak stopped both Petco and Petsmart from selling any birds larger than a Sun Conure)...And Petsmart's largest supplier back then was an aviary in Florida. So it's likely that your Eclectus was bred and originally came from an aviary in Florida and was sold to PetSmart...As far as what PetSmart store he went to and was sold in, there's no way to know...Here's the link to the discussion I found it in...If you hit the "Next" and "Previous" message buttons you can read the entire thread, but it's exactly the band your guy has...Back then PetSmart and Petco unfortunately bought their parrots from anyone and everyone, and they they slapped an open leg-band on their legs that simply indicated that the bird originally was bred in Florida and then sold to Petsmart. The number "1075" means nothing except he was probably the 1,075th bird they bought from that particular aviary/breeder in florida...
