So I thought this would be a funny thread to make since I've lived with or encountered a variety of parrots. They are almost never the stereotype you expect parrots to be (they are much better), but I will give a few examples in case this makes no sense. Basically what the bird books never told you.
What you expect them to learn: Expansive phrases, "Help, I've been turned into a parrot," anything you can possibly teach them. The Star Wars theme song.
What they do learn: Curse words, NSFW noises, and the fire alarm, all at once, while family is visiting.
(Shoutout to my grandma's African Gray for this one)
What you expect: A cuddly feather fluff.
What you get: Bite. Bite bite. bite. Now pet me. Nope, changed my mind. Bite.
(Especially with my cockatiel, Leo. He doesn't really /bite/ but he nibbles my fingers.)
What you expect: Feeding them a variety of fruits and veggies and them loving every bite. Knowing your bird will eat better than you do.
What you get: "But I want what youuu have." -throws broccoli on the ground-
What you expect: Them to poop in one place. Easy to clean up.
What you get: "How did that even get up there???"
What you expect: Pretty singing all of the time.
What you get: SQUAWK!
I love my feather nuggets. Just is fun to poke fun at them from time to time.
