Hi, yes I'm a noob here, but I have a question about my african grey parrot bella.

She has a favourite cup that we place on the coffee table and she plays with it, gets really excited, climbs on top and starts making some funny noises. I have a youtube video attached to this post to see what I mean.

Can anyone tell me what she's actually doing?

Looks like at several points she is regurgitating to the cup. Not sure but it looks like she has a bond with her cup. Its not uncommon for parrots to have a certain toy that they masturbate on. Sounds bad but I guess they have needs to, but thats what it looks and sounds like to me. Maybe someone else on here has another idea about the video. Pretty bird ya got there

Thanks for the reply, I was guessing at some sort of mating ritual. Judging by your response I wasn't a world away from the truth. We've only had her about 6 weeks or so and she's just turning two, she's bonded really well with our family and talks quite often.

Im glad she found a good home. At two years old she is just beginning with her hormones. She may get a little touchy now and then, just watch her body language. You will learn her moods and when to touch and not touch when the hormones are raging. She looks very happy in the video (not just that way) This forum is a great place to ask questions and get help with your Bella.
