Giggles - Red Crowned Kakariki
So for treats I use Sunflower seeds, my boy loves them. But I know they are high in fat and I am wondering if there is something birds love that I can use for training as a treat so I don't need to watch how many he eats as much. Something small in the same style he eats the sunflower would be good. When we have visitors I sometimes have to hide his sunflower seeds as some ppl just want to give him a treat, try the excuse its just one yet they want to always give him the seeds and don't seem to understand they would add up during the day even the ones I give him. So often hide his sunflowers in my desk and "forget" where they are when we have visitors.
His a kakariki.

It's fine. Everyone can have a few potato chips (sunflower seeds). Just don't put out a bowl of them.

We use pine nuts, cut into 3rds for training treats. Salty loves 'em.
