I spelled it wrong.
If your googling, its called a tenkhoff catheter.
Well, its in now.
We will start using it from Monday I think.
Someone stole the bird cage from the front our house in the night.

OMG, that makes me so darn angry, I'd like to cut the little thieves hands off.

Okay, so Skippah wasn't using it indoors, but it would have been nice to be able to put him in whilst enjoying the sunshine.

Guess its a good job that he wasn't in there, they may just have a lovely cage and bird now.    Little toorags

Hi Red, I hope your able to feel better soon.
I've been going through a lot of surgeries myself, not quite as difficult as what your dealing with, though.
I have been hospitalized quite often. Sometimes for nearly 3 weeks at a time and my birds have never forgotten me. They even start screaming their heads off when I'm arriving home in the car with my folks.. I don't know how they know. (My mom does tell them before they leave to get me from the hospital.. I guess they understand)
I usually get punished for a little while when I first get home, (a few days) unless I'm in a lot of pain. They seem to sense that and take it easy on me.
I just try and talk to them and tell them what happened. If I have 'boo-boo's' as they call it, I show the birds and I think that helps them to understand why I wasn't here.
When I had my umbrella cockatoo, Boca, she was always the first to forgive me. She would yell BAD GIRL and then launch herself at me for hugs and kisses.

Good luck, hope everything goes well.

Sarah

Im home for 3 hours, then back to the grind.
I start Dialysis in the Morning.
Im not sure how long till Im home again, but I suspect I am going to spend a bit of time at home, not working.
I will let you know how it goes.
Bird is OK but I have to buy a new out side bird cage with the insurance money.
Im open to any cool suggestions.

well, I have had my 1st 10 hour shot dialysis.
I cant believe how much better I feel.
I went home for a few hours and Skippah is giving me the cold shoulder.
Doesnt want me to pat him too much and moves away after 10 seconds or so.
He goes back to his seed tray and pretends I'm not there. However, when I left to back to the hospital, I could hear him screaming from the car. He seems much beefier since I saw him last. I am about to get hooked up to the machine again, so I will keep this short. So far so good. Now I have started dialysis I can look at getting on the transplant list and the people who want to donate a kidney can get tested. I made the 1st transplant last 14 years, so I have good shot at making another one do the same.

Oh blimey, is this what you'll have to have done every so often. And is 14 years a long time for them to last.

14 years is a good number.
85% of people dont last that long.

Red ... I mimic Peta. You remain in my thoughts and prayers. I have a friend with a kidney transplant and, with the little that I understand, I do know that without doubt you are going through a tremendous amount of mental, emotional and physcial stress. Bless you! :64:
