Those toys you made are beautiful, they look like something you would find in a store. I also love that large play stand you made, it looks perfect for macaws.
Great job!

Funny thing about the big treestand I made........we only had the Hahn's & 1 GW at the time & the GW was just a baby, then shortly there after got the 1st Zon....Well, the Hahn's pretty much thought that it was HERS!!!!! There was so much squabbling over it I took it apart (also cause we needed the room).

This doesn't happen anymore

Call me crazy, but you hahns looks like a very wise man...or lady. I don't know, but s/he looks like if s/he was a human, s/he'd be a proffesor, or a scientist, or Dumbledore. Ya, I may be wacko, but that hahns reminds me of a proffesor of some sort... I think it's the eyes... Does this make sence? For example, my GCCs remind me of little 4 year olds, and my senegal reminds me of a very slow lizard. I think I've gone mad...

LOL!! Lani (Hahn's female) has y'all fooled, she's probably the meanest of our flock!! Up until just recently she was ALL my wife's bird, she would nip me so dang hard!!! Last few months though, she really prefers to be with me than the wife, which is only fair since I've always been a Zon worshiper and they barely tolerate me & they are putty with my wife.

Wow, we Texans know how to make things. I am turning a room into a play room for my birds.........I want to make a large tree like yours. We cut down a sycamore (on the safe wood list) only problem it is lying in a bed of poison ivy. Can birds get poison ivy? Wonder how I can clean it so we can work with it. Maybe I need to start a new thread.

I'd let it dry in the sun for a while, you're in Tx so 2-3 weeks should do it with this heat.
Then I'd get a pump-up sprayer & use vinegar & water & soak the wood down good (preferably in the shade so it doesn't evaporate too fast) & let it sit a couple more days. If you have a power washer, I'd use it for the washing after being in the sun.

I'm pretty lucky, a friend lives on the coast & they collect driftwood all the time so I get a pretty good supply of it.

I read that poison ivy was actualy good for birds to eat, only humans contract the actual sickness part of it.

I love your stuff WharfRat. I'm just north of Dallas. Real close to Lake Lewisville :) I'm a pretty crafty person, but for the life of me haven't decided on things to make. The most I've done is some hemp work...
