I would absolutely love to to take my fids places. I actually took Oliver on a walk yesteday, but I don't think I will do it again. All the time I was walking, I kept on replaying horror stories of clipped birds flying away. :( Bella and Zora I can't take out of the house period, if they get spooked, whoosh, they're off, even if they are clipped somethig bad can happen to them. I'm not saying those who take unclipped birds out without a harness are wrong, this is just my opinion based on the behaviour of my fids. I've been looking at aviator harnesses and flight suits to be able to take my fids out. I honestly like the aviator harness design better, but I'm now convinced on flight suits since they catch accidents.t I can successfully turn them upside down, stretch wings, etc. So, questions, questions, questions!

1) What is your experience with flight suits? I have heard of birds getting tangled in them, but how often does that happen for it to be dangerous?

2) Good sites to buy them from? I've checked out Avian Fashions and Dr.Foster & Smith, any others? So far I prefer the latter just because of it being a bit cheaper, but if for any reason Avian Fasions is better, I don't mind spending more. However, I do think they are the same thing. Not sure.

3) What size for 3 month old GCC's? Dr.F&S says Small, Avian Fashions says Jr Small, and another site (I'm not sure of the name) says Jr Small.

4) Any reason that an Aviator Harness is better? I think the only downside is that if you want to go, say, somewhere public it would be weird with poop falling on your back :o and under where they were standing.

Any other tips, info, and advice woud be greatly appreciated! :D

i don't have a whole lot of harness experience, but i think aviator harness are better, just be sure you don't let the leash go! I would also pay great attention to your surroundings so you make sure something doesn't spook him. good luck, a place to buy them is pampered peeps aviaries :)

Thank you. :) I have never seen Pampered Peeps before, thanks for telling me about it! I really do like harnesses, but would it restrict you from going in places you could go in if you had a flight suit to catch poop?

You could always get it from msbs! Kathie is great and I love buying from her. I personally won't take my fids in a harness outside because they are so small I'm scared of hawks wanting to eat them!
I would go with the size smaller than recommended for cockatiels because Gcc are slightly smaller.

I have a jr. small for my green cheek and she is pretty use to it and does not protest to much when I put it on , especially when we get outside , she loves to go out ....I prefer the flight suite for her rather than the harness because I can get the flight suite on her easier . I have used both for my Timneh and he seems to prefer the harness over the flight suite . But really he does not like either one...lol
Drs Fosters and Smith ( I like their free shipping over $49.00) is a good place to get it as well as mysafebirdstore.

Thank you guys. =) There aren't hawks where I live, so that won't be a problem. I'll check out all the sites you mentioned. Thanks again

I think I'm ordering from Dr. Foster & Smith... I really enjoy their free shipping and I'm also getting some toys and such for Oliver, Bella, and Zora. All out birdy shopping spree! LOL ;) Bella and Zora are going to look stylish at the park. :)
