My baby Cheddar , he comitted at some point the other day because the cage smelled funny and it was milky and had seed particles everywhere
It was flung so I knew it was vomit

My BF initially said he ate too much maybe but I insisted we went to an emergency vet. It was so late at night like 1am and I was so worried I was hyperventilating and crying most of the time. Thank God he was with me, the vet got him some anti nausea meds, I had to deny getting fluids cause they struggled to hold him and he was super stressed out... And we went to our normal vet in the morning as an emergency visit. He got some anti inflammatory, made sure he got plenty of water in him after that

Hewas so sleepy for half the day yesterday and seeing him so lethargic hurt my heart. But by 4pm he sprung right back up and was back to being his psycho self. He was much snugglier that whole day and wouldn't leave our side ❤️

ALWAYS GO WHEN U NOTICE SOMETHING IS OFF. YOUR BABY WILL THANK YOU

Cheddar says stay hydrated

It sounds like we had the similar days yesterday. How is he today?
He's very normal today

The doctor said the new food we gave him had him upset

So he's back to only zuprem veggie pellets

The store was out last time we got him something different and it must of made him feel sick. :(

My baby is back to normal today , playing screaming eating and hopping mad!

He threw up again recently I called the vet and they said it's expected with the medication but to come if it happens more.

My heart is pounding again I just want my baby to be healthy :(

Anyone else ever deal with something similar

He's still playful and doing normal stuff but def in a sleepier way

But I didn't even realize

I was at work when my bf saw him gorge on seeds that belonged to my tiels

He actually never had seeds before

Anyone else had a parrot whose tummy hates seeds?

Seeds are for my old tiel I smash pellets into the mix but he won't eat without seeds.

Cheddar only is eating his normal veggie zupreme now

But I've had horrible losses before I'm sure many have here too and my heart is pounding and pounding I need reassurance even if the vet allready did

Any dramatic diet changes (like eating something he’s not used to) can cause an upset “ tummy.”
But it shouldn’t cause long term illness as long as it’s nothing toxic. It sounds like you did the right thing taking him to the vet just to be sure. What a cute little guy ❤️ hope he’s 100% soon!

Similar. Visiting relatives with CAG. A nephew feed bargain very old seeds. I watched closely with not a little tantrum on my part. A vet trip was necessary, runny poop, starting lethargy. I was also fortunate that I had regular avian vet. Records were faxed. I caught it early. Everyone had been directed to not touch bird or cage. The nephew didn't think that applied to feeding. I also found out the bird had died a few years earlier. The seeds were saved 'in case'. I threw out the seeds.

We came back to the vet I wasn't happy with how sleepy he got

They might give him anti bacterial meds we will see.

Always cannot take seeing my babies unwell

He got more tests he's gonna be put on anti biotics and some apple cider stuff we will measure out

Poor baby his gut flora isn't very happy

I'll keep updating it's atleast a ten day process :( my poor baby

I lost a clutch of baby cockatiels about 7 years ago because I gave them a brand new package of what I thought was still good baby formula. Turns out the unopened bag was 9 years (yes, years) old. Had I checked the expiration date and not trusted the person who gave me the food, those babies would still be alive.

I'm so glad your baby is still alive and doing okay. Here's to a strong recovery despite the tummy upset!
