He only makes that sound in the mornings and after we cover him for bed, then when my husband starts talking to him. That's my husband's hand in the video. He also mimics the black birds outside. I think they are magpies but not sure.

Chu Chu, my Lilac Crowned does a similar laugh, barks like a dog, coughs and does the gurgle sound of water from the kitchen faucet. I have had him now for a week and he learned to say, "Jailbird" when I fasten his cage and he's trying to whistle the Popeye theme song.
