I just “rescued” an American crow today. I dropped him off here https://wrcmn.org/. I hope he makes it. I was taking my dog for a walk, and found this little guy on the ground surrounded by corn cobs. He ate some of them. When I tried to scare him off the ground I realized he couldn’t fly. I couldn’t just leave him there. Crows are incredibly intelligent, but a flightless bird on the ground in a neighborhood full of cats & dogs doesn’t stand a chance.

I plan on emailing the rehab place in a few days to check the status. I was informed during the drop off that the West Nile virus is going around in crows, and it’s deadly to them.

I wanted to correct myself. It’s called the West Nile virus that is going around in crows. It’s transferred by mosquitos is what I was told.

Sad but nice that they sent this message and that they bothered to fully evaluate his injuries before putting him out of his misery. Fly high, baby bird!
