an explanation......

Thanks for asking, Plax. It dang sure ain't getting any better and the pain has gotten worse. We don't have any health ins. and I'm currently unemployed so $$$ is super tight right now. As soon as we can afford it, I'm getting it x-rayed, something is definitely wrong with it. I am very upset with the 1st place I went, they prescribed 42 antibiotics BUT only 10 pain pills and refused to refill it unless I came in again (meaning more $$ 3 days after the 1st visit). I was actually kidding about the JD but it sure is sounding better and better now. Sleep is almost nonexistent these days as well which ain't helping either. I feel sorry for the wife cause it has created a very large burden on her with me being out of commission. :(
Thanks for the update. Wow, that really sucks! I certainly empathize.

You can (and probably should) go in to ER. They're not supposed to be able to turn patients away when they have emergency care needs, even if they're not able to pay and are without insurance. A dangerous infection in one's leg that's not improving qualifies as a condition requiring emergency treatment. If one ER won't take you keep trying others until one does!

They're not supposed to be able to turn patients away

Yea, I know, but we just closed on our house last week and are still waiting for our paperwork to come in and I don't want to screw with that. They may not turn me away but they sure as hell can hit me with one out of sight bill I won't be able to pay.

I hear ya. Life becomes so complicated at times. Just be sure that your infection isn't progressively becoming worse and worse. Because if it gets to the point that your life is in danger, you might not be around to continue enjoying your house and your family (including your birds) much longer beyond then. Please keep the ER option open! You can always worry about the negative impact from the bill later.

Ok, gonna go see a specialist this week. I'm just glad they refilled the pain meds finally. It's kinda nice not being in so much pain 24/7..... (Wife too, she ain't been taking this well at all)

Glad to hear you finally got your pain meds replenished, and glad to hear about your appointment. Please keep us posted!

I will say some prayers for you. I had gallbladder surgery without health insurance so I can feel your pain there. Took 5 years to pay it off, but we made it through.

Hey Wharf, did you go to the doctor? Something like this can really escalate into something very serious. Sometimes taking the pain meds is a catch 22 because it will mask the pain and then you won't realize how much worse your condition may be getting. I would go right away to the doctor and get it cleared up. Keep us updated!

golly, guess why I'm up so late. :20:

Well, we THOUGHT we were getting a $500 Visa gift card from buying the house :11: We got a gift card, but it was for Home Depot  There went my doctor money..... last I checked, they didn't have clinics in there. :20:

Leg has actually been getting better but I overdid it today, went grocery shopping early, we bought 2 motion detector porch lights with the gift card so I installed those today (ladder was STUPID on my part, I only used 2 steps of it though.) Then did dishes sitting on my stool and then BBQ'ed dinner/lunch for the week then came in and cooked all the sides and did dishes again. ( I always cook on Sunday basically for the rest of the week, lunches included for everyone and the wife gets some kind of breakfast pre-made.)

Went on a job interview last week for a hospital chain/company, I'm really hoping that pans out!;)

Anyway, the leg is PO'ed big time right now, just finished soaking it and now waiting to feel sleepy from the night time meds

Hoping things get better soon.Take care rat.

Wow.. that looks painful. It looks like Sepsis to me.

WharfRat, since you've closed on the house deal there's still ER if need be. If you're not seeing/feeling clear improvements I would consider it if I were you.
