ANTS

As the title implies I found ants in my vegetable dish (indoor cage by sliding door). The dish was put out around 6:30 in the morning I'm by 9:00 I looked and I found ants. Mind you this time around I put egg food in with the vegetables because I noticed that one of the birds has pre molt. Any suggestions for getting rid of them without harming the birds?

I live in Brisbane, Australia, where the ants are virtually bulletproof, and they find my lorikeet’s nectar mix absolutely irresistible. I’ve tried EVERYTHING and what’s worked best for me is canola oil sprayed onto the legs of my bird cages. It’s too slippery for the ants to be able to get a grip. No worries about toxicity and works a treat!

We had HORRIBLE issues with ants this year! And they were coming in thru the front door, and taking over my front wall in my living room. URG nasty! Nothing seems to be totally killing them. My husband has tried different products outside, and all we be ok for a bit, and next thing you know they are back. I even put out "traps" that they are supposed to take back to the nest, didn't work. My advise is to try and find the outside source and try to eliminate that first. GOOD LUCK!

I solved our ants-in-TheRb's-stuff by wrapping some two-sided tape around the cage legs and any stands that carry food. The little stinkers get stuck and then seem to send out the warning to their buddies!

Galeriagila: thanks for the advice the two-sided tape seems to be working well. My wife said she caught a lineup at the first double sided tape barrier and the ants nowhere to go.

We then scrubbed and disinfected the line all the way back to where they had entered the house and we haven't seen them since.

Well the I've seen Queenies flying about. Found one in kitchen. So the little workers are going to be agoing strong!

Welcome, welcome, buddy! I had the delight of destroying an ARMY of ants AND a few ROACHES recently. I was ashamed at taking such delight in the depredation of little critters, but.....................

If you find the nest, 30%vinegar is the environmental safe way to go. Works on weeds too

Well the weird part is I live in a condo on the second floor so I'm not too sure where this nest would be. My wife is tackling the problem and to be honest with you I've only seen one or two strangers about. She used the vinegar method on the sliding door leading to the patio and double-sided tape around the cage.
